A Journey of Growth and Excellence

Wilfred Burrows, NIS Model United Nations Club Advisor, School Coordinator for iSP International Learning Opportunities for Students (ILOS) and Head of the Fine & Performing Arts and Technology Department at Nibras International School, shares his experience about running the Model United Nations Programme at the school.

Over the past three years, the Model United Nations (MUN) programme at Nibras International School (NIS) has blossomed into a thriving community, fostering student growth in international relations, diplomacy, and critical thinking. What began as a small initiative during my first year here at the school in 2021-2022 has transformed into a vibrant hub of ambitious and dedicated students who excel on the global stage..

This remarkable growth has recently culminated in a stellar performance of our delegation at the ISP MUN Malaysia Conference. Here, not only were our students recognised with awards across all of their committees, but we were also awarded the honor of hosting the ISP Virtual MUN 2025 for Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students.

NIS is now looking to build on this momentum by expanding the program to younger students through the creation of a Middle School MUN Club, ensuring a pipeline of enthusiastic, globally minded individuals for years to come. But don’t just take our word for it - hear it from NIS Senior and passionate NISMUN member Zaki Siddiqui, who serves as the Secretary-General (President) on the Executive Council of the NIS Model

United Nations Club. Zaki shared:

"As a member of the school’s MUN club for the past three years, and the current Secretary-General, I have witnessed the incredible growth of our MUN community. What once was a concept merely talked about has become a community of competitive students who don’t just participate to foster lifelong experiences and friendships, but who also strive to deepen their understanding of international relations and the world beyond our bubble. Our recent trip to Malaysia showcased how far we’ve come, with students stepping out of their comfort zones and honing their skills. What made me most proud was seeing the very people I’ve worked with and taught standing on stage, recognized for their efforts.

Hosting the ISP Virtual MUN 2025 is a profound honor, and it fills me with joy and gratitude. It’s also a reminder of the dedication required to make this conference truly magnificent. Our pledge is to create an event that balances knowledge, community, and the social, enjoyable aspects of MUN. Nibras has come a long way, and being a part of this journey is something I’ll treasure forever.”

As we continue to cultivate a legacy of regional and international success as an organization, the NISMUN community is ready to embrace this next chapter and continue shaping globally aware leaders of tomorrow.

As the advisor, I am beyond proud of what our students have accomplished and look forward to the years to come!
